HOW DOES IT WORK?
JUVÉDERM® is made from hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps add volume and hydration. It is also infused with a small amount of local anesthetic to lessen discomfort during treatment.
Your physician or Aesthetics Provider will inject the gel under the skin where moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds occur to instantly restore your skin’s volume. This will temporarily add volume to the skin and give the appearance of a smoother surface.
HOW DOES IT FEEL?
Discomfort is minimal and brief, and it is unlikely you will develop significant side effects. Some patients develop slight temporary bruising at the injection site, which can easily be covered by makeup. You can ask your physician or Aesthetics provider to numb the treatment area with a topical cream to further minimize discomfort.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED TO SEE RESULTS?
Most patients need 1 treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing. Some patients might need more. Each individual is different and treatment plans are custom to each individual patient. Results typically last for 9 months to 1 year or more.
WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER TREATMENT?
You should avoid strenuous exercise, extensive sun or heat exposure, and alcoholic beverages within the first 24 hours after treatment. Exposure to any of the above may cause temporary redness, swelling, or itching at the injection site. If there is swelling, you can use an ice pack.
WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?
Side effects usually occur around the injection site. Common side effects include:
